Common Ground

Looking for events…

Which area?

Type it however you'd say it: a zip or postal code, a neighbourhood, a city, a state or province, a country.

Or one that has events coming up:

Add an event

Heard about something? Take a picture of the flyer, pick ones you already took (screenshots work too, several at once for one event), or paste a link. We'll read it and fill in the details; you only check them.

or

Instagram pages need a login we don't have: a screenshot of them works.

or

In Facebook, on the event: ··· › Export event › Add to calendar. That saves a small calendar file with the name, time, place and description; pick it here and the form is filled in exactly. (Any calendar's .ics file works.)

or

At the end of a jam, when people announce what's coming up: set the phone down in the circle and press record. We write down what was said, pick out the events, and you check each one.

Record the announcements

Set the phone down in the middle of the circle and press record. When everyone's done, press stop. The recording itself isn't kept, only the words.

Keep the phone unlocked while it records. Several people announcing, one after another, is fine.

How you hear about new events

Either way, ⏰ Remind me on an event still tells you the day before, and 📅 your calendar still fills itself.

Your phone tells you when a new event fits what you've picked. Off again with one tap.

Past events

Everything that has happened on Common Ground, kept for good. Search by name, host, place or what it was.

Your profile

Both are needed. Other people only see your first name and last initial (for example “Jerred L.”).

Your phone number
Only you can see it. It is never shown or shared.

Your community card

Optional. Only people you’ve shared a circle with (been at the same event) can see it; it’s never on your public profile.

Things like a change of place or time, or a cancellation, from its hosts.

Verify your account

One text with a code proves you’re a real person. Then what you add counts as yours, and you can do more (crop pictures, change kinds). Your number is used for nothing else, and never shown or shared.
